Saw a promotion from Guilt Group last month for an event at the National Jewelry Institute for “Vintage Jewelry” at the end of November – what caught my eye was a comment about jewelry and what it says that our cloths don’t. Following is the quote: “If our clothing tells a story, than our jewelry goes a step further allowing us to express our most personal tastes in a way that’s whimsical, elegant, humorous or subtle with far less surface area to do so.
As a passionate lover of Jewelry this quote sums up nicely how expressive jewelry can be for me that I find difficult for cloths to do. I never feel to fat to wear a piece of jewelry but I have 6 pairs of black pants in my closet for those fluffy days and various stages in between.
For those who will be in the New York area between now and January 3rd the National Jewelry Institute exhibit “Notorious & Notable,
20th Century Women of Style” looks to be a winner. The Institute can be found in the Museum of the City of New York at 1220 5th Ave.
