Artisan Jewelry Designer – Henry Elfering

Goldsmith and jewelry designer Henry Elfering will be featuring his full line of work at the GemLily booth at the Baltimore Summer Antiques Show Aug 23 -26th at the Baltimore convention center.

Henry Elfering began making jewelry in 1985 while working as a freelance art director. It was during a jewelry workshop that Henry discovered the world of Celts and has continued to study one of the most important and informative forces in European history.

Zoomorphic imagery so often associated with the book of Kells has inspired Mr. Elfering and his work. The Zoomorphic imagery illustrates the connectedness of the spirit to all of living things- a philosophy held by Henry.

Mr. Elfering is not attempting to recreate Celtic art work, instead create wearable works of modern art that are inspired by a culture that once dominated Eastern Europe to the fringes of Asia Minor. Celtic art often reflected a vision of a very specific nature by a very inventive peoples; Mr Elfering’s work takes a nod to a culture of warriors, farmers, and artisans by creating works of art that not only honor, but also relate to today’s global market.
